Why create a log file

Camsoft CNC Professional controller software provides a great feature for capturing events for diagnostic and technical support. A log file is used to help see what the system is doing in terms of motion commands or IO events.

Where can a log file be created?

The log file feature is part of the Diagnose window. Use the Diagnostics Icon button located on the main Operator Interface to display the diagnostic windows.

How to create the log file.

The diagnostic windows can be in the background or minimized. Continue with the operation or operations with the Operator Interface needed. While the diagnostic windows are open, the system I recording diagnostic information to a file on disk called the logfile. The events that are being captured are also displayed in the Code display window. When the events that need to be captured have occurred or error messages have displayed continue to save the logfile.

How to save the log file

Use the Copy File button on the Diagnose window to save the logfile.

In the Binary or ASCII History File Format prompt enter a 2 to create an ASCII file type.

Click OK to continue and save the file.

The white text box on the Diagnose window will display messages regarding the logfile creation. The default name and location for the log file is C:\AS3000\CNC\LOGFILE.FIL. The file is a plain text file that can be read with any text editor or which can be emailed.
